Custom Conveyor Flipper: Where Safety, Ergonomics and Productivity Meet

A Solution Designed for Operators and Performance

In the manufacturing sector, productivity gains often come from making better use of equipment. However, when manual assembly is involved, worker ergonomics and safety become just as important as production throughput.

With this in mind, a kitchen cabinet manufacturer partnered with our team to design an assembly line capable of simplifying cabinet handling while reducing the physical demands placed on assemblers.

The Challenge: Safe and Ergonomic Cabinet Handling

During the assembly of kitchen cabinets, operators must regularly move, rotate, and hold cabinets of various sizes. These repetitive tasks can lead to:

  • Significant physical strain;
  • Safety concerns related to manual material handling.

The goal of the project was to develop equipment capable of mechanizing these operations while maintaining a flexible and efficient work environment.

The Solution: An Assembly Line with an Integrated Mechanical Flipping System

To meet the customer’s needs, we developed a complete assembly line incorporating:

  • A powered conveyor for cabinet transportation;
  • A mechanical flipping system allowing controlled rotation of assemblies;
  • A holding mechanism that ensures cabinet stability throughout the process;
  • An ergonomic working height of 24 inches adapted to production requirements.

This approach enables operators to work in more natural positions while minimizing manual handling.

A Design Challenge: Synchronizing Holding and Conveying Functions

One of the project’s main challenges was the design of the cabinet holding system.

The mechanism had to securely hold the product during specific assembly operations while allowing a disengageable return system perfectly synchronized with the conveyor when the product needed to continue through the production process.

A Solution Adapted to Manufacturing Realities

This custom flipping conveyor perfectly illustrates our ability to deliver turnkey projects, from mechanical design through manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning of custom industrial equipment.

By combining our expertise in engineering, precision machining, mechanical fabrication, and industrial automation, we develop solutions that address real manufacturing challenges while improving safety, ergonomics, and operational performance.
